The 21-year-old Belarussian Elvira Herman won the European Youth Star Award of 2018 in the youth category at the Athletics Golden Tracks Awards in Lausanne after surprisingly winning the gold medal at 100m hurdles at European Championship in Berlin. The organizer of the 54th P-T-S meeting managed to persuade her to come to Samorin at the last minute.
Getting a title of the European Champion confirmed her great talent from youth categories, when she took the silver medal from 2014 Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China. She also won at the Junior European Championships 2015, a year later she won at 2016 Junior World Championship, took the silver medal at 2017 European U23 Championship.
Last year (2018) at P-T-S meeting she won unexpectedly by overcoming the great American Queen Harrison and improved her personal best to 12.64. Five weeks later, she won gold at the European Championship in Berlin.
